Youth Services Library Assistant, Westfield Athenaeum (Westfield)
The Youth Services Library Assistant position provides a variety of library services for children, teens, families, and educators, including: reference assistance, circulation, and programming for children. The Library Assistant also selects part of the juvenile collection designated by the Supervisor of Youth Services. The primary responsibilities of this position is to provide circulation assistance in the children's area, along with reference and directional support for library patrons. Other duties will include: research, selection, and purchasing of library materials for a section of the juvenile collection. The person in this position will also create, develop, and implement programs for children.
Qualifications
This position requires strong customer service, a strong level of interpersonal and communication skill, some familiarity with library procedures, basic proficiency with computer technology, and the ability to work as part of a team and independently. Experience working with children, either in a library setting, or in another capacity, is highly desired.
